ANDYTOWN COFFEE ROASTERS
Andytown's second cafe in San Francisco's Outer Sunset neighborhood was challenged with an extremely narrow 9'-wide footprint. Both front and back facades were opened up with glass to create an open 'breezeway' drawing patrons through the space to a sunny, south-facing patio at the rear. A new bathroom was treated as a low, furniture-like object to allow the volume of the narrow space to flow over and around it. A row of skylights tracks the circulation zone, filtering sunlight though exposed ceiling joists and lending an 'exterior' feel to the cafe.
